Epson Stylus SX200
On paper the Epson Stylus SX200 seems to be good value multifunction printer with a good selection of features. Running costs are surprisingly good in terms of printer cartridges with a set of Epson SX200 ink cartridges costing around £30 and compatible Epson ink cartridges available for under £15 from most online retailers. The SX200 is first and foremost an inkjet printer and that there seem to be where Epson has put most of its efforts, its print quality is very good for a printer in this price bracket and whether it’s a plain text documents or a high resolution photo print the SX200’s print quality is flawless. One thing the SX200 is lacking when it comes to printing is speed, Epson claim it capable of 34ppm (pages per minutes) but this must be in draft quality printing few lines of text because in standard quality setting printing half a page of text the bets it can manage is 4ppm, which is not very impressive at all. The scanning capabilities of the SX200 are a little basic, but it to be expected from this type of device, don’t get wrong is perfectly capable of performing general scanning tasks and even comes with OCR software for converting printed text in editable documents but its nothing special. The photo copier has some more impressive features like PC-free operation and single touch copying but again the speed of the SX200 let it down. Overall The Stylus SX200 is a good machine when you consider its price but its nothing revolutionary.
