My brother has always been my idol. Over the years he has proven that one can excel academically and physically while maintaining a good social life. He graduated with honors and immediately started a career in a prestigious company. Lately though I was noticing changes in his behavior including mood swings. The usual smiling face that greets us whenever he comes home is now replaced with either gloomy or grumpy look. He also comes home very late with the smell of alcohol. I tried to talk to him and ask if he has a problem and if I could be of help. He said that he’s just pressured at work and he just needs an outlet. I believed him and thought that things were still normal, not until one day when he had a car accident. After that incident, he promised us, his family, that he will not be drunk again and that he’ll take care of himself. Since then I have never seen my brother drunk and we were so happy that he finally gave up alcohol. Unfortunately, that’s what we thought. I discovered that he would take home bottles of liquor and he would drink them inside his room, without any of us seeing him. I told my mom about it and she thought of bringing our brother to an alcohol rehab to undergo alcohol rehab program. At first I was hesitant because I thought that only drug dependents undergo those kind of programs. Anyway, I still searched the net for it and I was so relieved to find out about The Drug Rehab. They provide alcohol and drug rehab program based on one’s length and severity of addiction. I immediately informed my mother about it. I am really hopeful that we could help my brother’s transform into a happier and healthier person.
